This year, I made my own mask for Halloween. I started with a blank cat mask I bought from Artists & Craftsman Supply. Then, I cut and glued shapes out of construction paper and created this crazy, colorful, tribal pattern. I didn’t really have a clear plan for how I wanted it to turn out. It was actually a really fun process of just cutting out shapes and laying them on where ever felt right. I even ended up cutting into the shape of the mask to create more of a defined nose. The mask is made of a kind of gesso-ed chipboard, so it’s really easy to cut with an exacto knife. When I was finshed, I also sprayed some clear matte sealer over the mask to keep the construction paper from fading too quickly as well as protect it a little from the weather. Happy Halloween!
